The European Investment Fund is seeking to recruit for its Company Secretary-Legal Department at its headquarters in Luxembourg

   Appointment will be made on the basis of a fixed term contract of four (4) years.

Purpose :
As part of the EIF's Legal Team, the legal counsel will provide advice across a wide range of activities related to EIF's private equity/venture capital business as well as specialist advice on European Union law.
Operating network:
The lawyer will report to the Head of Unit and collaborate with a team of lawyers to provide support to the operational services
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will :
  • Negotiate legal aspects of equity fund transactions, co-investments, mandates and other initiatives undertaken by EIF;
  • Follow-up and monitor EIF's wide portfolios;
  • Liaise with external consultants and supervise their work;
  • Maintain a specialist competence and keep abreast of developments in the technical/legal areas in which the EIF operates;
  • Be involved, as necessary, in other matters relating to EIF's institutional and corporate activities
Qualifications:
  • University degree in law or legal professional qualification, preferably complemented with a post-graduate degree;
  • At least two years' post qualification experience, preferably in a leading international law firm;
  • Knowledge of the EIF's main activities, specifically related to private equity and fund formation would be an advantage;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
