The Program
The Kiribati Education Improvement Program is a partnership between Australia, the Government of Kiribati, UNICEF and UNESCO. It aims to give all children in Kiribati access to quality education by 2020. The program will improve basic literacy and numeracy and ensure children have the necessary skills to continue to the next stage of education.
Coffey International Development is currently responsible for managing the delivery of a package of support and technical assistance, named the Kiribati Education Facility (KEF).to the Kiribati Ministry of Education on behalf of AusAID. The package includes improving classrooms and physical facilities, teacher training and workforce development and school curricula and assessments.
A leadership opportunity is now available for the role of Team Leader to provide effective management and leadership of this significant education facility. This position will lead a team of approximately 20 (including national and international personnel) to achieve the program objectives.
About the role:
• Based in Tarawa, Kiribati (Pacific)
• Full time, long term position commencing November 2013 to December 2015

About You:
Our ideal candidate will have:
• Extensive experience in delivering high level advice on evidence-based strategic planning, financial planning, policy development and policy implementation in an education context and in a development environment is essential
• Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with counterparts and partner stakeholders is essential
• High level understanding of development principles is essential
• Experience working in Kiribati or remote locations in the Pacific is desirable.
