The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector investment arm of the World Bank Group, is one of the leading investors and lenders in emerging markets. The mission of IFC is to promote sustainable private sector investment in developing countries, helping to reduce poverty and improve peoples' lives. IFC finances private sector investments in the developing world, mobilizes capital in the international financial markets, helps clients improve social and environmental sustainability, and provides technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses. The Financial Markets department for Europe, Middle East, and North Africa is looking for an Investment Officer for Southern Europe and Central Asia, to supervise assigned portfolio clients; and to do processing of projects. The position will be based in Tirana, Albania.
Duties and Accountabilities
The candidate will report to the Regional Portfolio Manager and will be responsible for working with other team members on all aspects of the assigned portfolio, including but not limited to:
- following developments related to the investment;
- being abreast of clients' financial situation;
- monitoring regulatory and market developments in the country of investment;
- preparing portfolio reports;
- executing equity sales;
- coordinating closely with social, environmental, and advisory services teams in order to add value to our clients' businesses, and achieve sustainable development impact.
The candidate will also work with other team members to evaluate, structure, and negotiate, new transactions, portfolio restructurings, reschedulings, and capital increases, as needed.

- At least 10 years of work experience of which at least 5 years for a major commercial or investment bank with significant emerging markets presence, an international financial institution or central bank;
- Experience in and analytical knowledge of emerging markets;
- Experience in leading, negotiating and structuring financial transactions;
- Advanced degree in Finance;
- Written competency and spoken language fluency in English;
- Excellent financial and analytical skills;
- Demonstrated teamwork skills, in both leadership and participant roles, including the ability to mentor and coach others to achieve results;
- A strong client service orientation, with openness to feedback and new ideas; and
- The ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries to influence & build networks across the region.
