Research project
MOCRU will start a malaria research project in 2 villages of Kayin State.The research will include clinical management, laboratory testing and follow ups of uncomplicated malaria patients. Laboratory technician need to do microscopy, and some basic laboratory testing procedures for malaria patients. Quality control team will supervise standard operating procedures and quality of blood smear and laboratory procedures.
General responsibilities
  • Management of research clinic laboratory
  • Communicate with Research Medical Doctor, local MAM staff, Research manager, Principle investigator
  • Participate in implementation of research laboratory
Description of the activities:
o Microscopy examination of malaria blood slides and Quality control
o Contribute to team work activities and planning of research project, gives feedback to the research team leader, research manager and principal investigator
o Storage and management of blood samples – manage to store blood samples in storage ice boxes, schedule and arrange transport of blood samples to central lab/Yangon in collaboration with logisticians
o Data collection, reporting, analysis of data and evaluation of activities
o Monitor laboratory consumption, laboratory orders and maintenance of lab materials
o Maintain standard operating procedures and qualities required for research
Requirements:
Training: Laboratory technician.
Laboratory experience: extensive experience with the diagnosis of malaria
Language: Myanmar and English

  3. The applicant should be hard working, and able to cope with flexible working hours.
  4. The applicant should be able to work independently.
  5. Commitment for a minimum of 1 year.
