Background / General description
IFC’s Regional Hub in Istanbul covers Turkey, Southern and Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia and MENA. The private sector in this region has been and continues to be a recipient of substantial IFC investment. To complement our growing investments, we are currently in the process of recruiting an Investment Analyst to work in the Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department. The selected candidate would be assigned to assist the investment staff with securing new investments, market research and mapping, transaction structuring, processing and supervision, and establishing strong relationships within the region’s governments and business communities. The position will be based in Istanbul, Turkey and will involve travel throughout the region.
Duties and Accountabilities
  • Provide analytical, research, and processing support to project teams;
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare financial models;
  • Conduct industry, market and company research;
  • Prepare project-related documents for internal and external audiences;
  • Participate in all aspects of IFC’s project processing cycle, from project development to disbursement and supervision;
  • Preparing Information Memorandum, Executive Summaries and other reports for the bank market, and high level briefs and working papers for IFC management;
  • The position provides an opportunity to obtain broad company, project and sector experience, and to liaise closely with technical, legal and other staff in IFC’s offices in the region and Washington.
     
    Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor degree with at least two years relevant work experience in project finance, investment banking, corporate finance and/or credit analysis work for a major bank/financial institution;
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and ability to develop complex financial models;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills including corporate/project finance;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Turkish, Russian or any other regional language is desirable;
  • Ability to think independently, analyze problems and identify appropriate solutions;
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills with proven ability to work promptly and efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels (inside and outside IFC) with demonstrated team spirit and responsiveness.
