Organizational Setting and Reporting
The internship is located in the Advocacy Section (AS), Public Affairs and Policy Support Branch (PAB), Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Vienna (Austria).
The intern will work under the direct supervision of Professional staff of the Section.

Responsibilities
The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to:
Translate and send out tweets
Provide support for UNODC social media sites
Conduct research relevant to the work of UNODC
Compile daily press clippings on UNODC and relevant areas
Maintain database of journalists
Perform other duties within the communications team as assigned.

Education
Applicants for an internship must be enrolled in a full-time university degree programme (Master's or equivalent) in a graduate school (second university degree or higher), or, if applicants are pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, they must have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme, but are encouraged to list all relevant work experience in their application.
Applicants must have a keen demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Special Notice
Duration: This internship position is for an initial period of four months, starting on 18 November 2013, with the option to extend to a total period of six months, based on the needs of the office and the availability of the intern.
This internship is unpaid. The intern will work five days per week (40 hours).
A completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) is required. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. In your Personal History Profile, be sure to include all past work experiences, IT skills, and three references.
The Cover Note must include:
- Name of university and title of degree you are currently pursuing
- Graduation date (when you expect to graduate from the programme)
- A listing of IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in.
- An explanation why you are the best candidate for an internship with the Terrorism Prevention Branch.
- An explanation of your interest in the work of UNODC.
APPLICANTS MUST ATTACH TO THEIR APPLICATION DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE OF CONTINUING MATRICULATION IN A GRADUATE/POST-GRADUATE UNIVERSITY DEGREE PROGRAMME DURING THE ENTIRE ENVISAGED PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP WITH UNODC/DPA/AS (i.e. an official letter of confirmation from a university).
