Background
Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) ensures efficient, available, and cost-effective management, operation and utilisation of Information Technology in support of the core business of the OSCE. This comprises activities associated with co-ordination, operation, management, development and implementation of ICT supported projects and infrastructure.
Maternity leave replacement is required for a period of one year.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief, Functional Support, the incumbent will provide IT service desk support to OSCE staff, delegations and participating States. ICT Functional Support comprises currently seven staff members. More specifically, he/she will be tasked with:
- Acting as focal point for all user related issues in conjunction with IT equipment of all OSCE users supported; responding to requests for assistance from users; logging calls in a database; maintaining accurate log entries of requests with fault details; searching documentation and previous requests for assistance on related topics to find most effective solutions;
- Updating and maintaining the OSCE internal "on-screen-reference", containing standard forms, administrative circulars and other information to be published to all staff;
- Assisting staff personally by phone or via remote access software with technical and procedural computer problems related to the use of IT equipment and software; identifying problems and implementing or recommending solutions
- Testing new software and hardware products; prior to installation to users on a wide basis creating pre-deployment reports for rollout planning; performing workstation testing after deployment at end-user workspace; briefing user on basic operation and handling;
- Following ICT standard operating procedures and standards installs computer hardware, taking care of IT deployment and performing upgrades and minor repairs of workstations, notebooks and printers;
- Ensuring emergency desktop and laptop backup of personal data in case of hardware replacement in a timely manner;
- Working out procedures, maintaining and updating user-related ICT information and working tools, assisting in preparation and updates of OSCE ICT policies, standard operation procedures and frequently asked questions;
- Assisting and advising staff members in using all installed PC applications; preparing manuals for the office automation products in use; advising and introducing new staff members in the use of the OSCE standard PC setup;
- Performing other related duties as required.
Necessary Qualifications
- Completed secondary education, supplemented by formal IT course training and practical experience;
- Minimum of four years of professional experience;
- Very good knowledge of computer applications and operating systems and to be able to support user requests;
- Experience in installing operating systems, OSCE standard software and other applications;
- Very good communication skills and competence in handling user's problems;
- Working knowledge of English; knowledge of German; knowledge of other OSCE working languages would be an asset;
- Ability to work in a team and establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
Remuneration Package
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deduction, is EUR 3,484 (12 times a year). OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Vanbreda medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
