The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), an international development organization and the main source of multilateral financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean, is seeking an energetic individual with solid expertise in the areas of operational and program management, planning, and administration to provide high quality services in a multi-cultural, multi-bilingual environment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the overall coordination of processes and operational activities within the Competitiveness and Innovation (CTI) Division of the Institutions for Development Sector (IFD). Additionally, the candidate should provide recommendations and implement action plans with the main objective of improving the overall performance of CTI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibility of the CTI Associate/Senior Associate will be to help the Division to improve the overall quality of its pipeline, portfolio, and its management. This includes incorporating systematically in all CTI operations the requirements of development effectiveness and impacts, the quality of evaluability at entry, and the effective use of monitoring tools and risks. The candidate will follow up the implementation of these tools, produce analytical reports on the quality of project implementation, results and impacts, and advise the Division Chief.
The candidate will formulate proposals for improving results management procedures and instruments, as they relate to improving the portfolio management of the Division, integrating best practices with the Division operational needs. Other key responsibilities include ensuring that portfolio management activities are consistent with the objectives of the Division, Department and with Bank policy, strategy and work programs.
The selected candidate, in close coordination with the person responsible for the administrative activities, will plan and monitor the Division's Knowledge program, ensuring compliance.
The selected candidate will identify and develop strategic partnerships, internally and externally, to enable more effective monitoring of outputs and impacts of CTI projects.
Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience at national and/or international level. Knowledge of the operational functions of the Division is desirable.
Technical/Functional Expertise: Highly proficient with software programs, spreadsheets, databases, and the Bank's standard word processing software.
Languages: Excellent oral and written command of English and Spanish.

Multi Sector Vision & Expertise: Effectively represents the content and strategies of multiple Sectors to clients and acts as the key point of contact.
Project Management: Understands the broader context of the IDB project cycle. Uses project management tools and methodologies toensure programs, projects and grants are delivered on time and within budget, with the most efficient andstrategic use of resources.
Project Monitoring & Supervision: Drives achievement of results and impact by closely monitoring progress on projects and grants, analyzingportfolio, and collaborating with clients and partners to address problems.
Negotiation & Communication: Uses negotiating skills and deep understanding of clients, third parties and IDB policies/procedures to create agreements and ensure buy-in.
Client Relationship Management: Develops ongoing relationships with clients, third parties and internal stakeholders to maximize client service.
