Organizational Setting and Reporting
The internship at the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology is for 3 months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
The intern will perform the following tasks as part of his/her internship:
Under the Overall supervision of The Head of APCTT,
1. Researching information on latest national science, technology and innovation (STI)/NIS policies, programmes and delivery mechanisms of the Asian and Pacific countries and; emerging approaches of technology innovation, such as open innovation, south-south cooperation for STI capacity development
2. Review the criteria or indicators for comparative analysis of STI
2. Preparing annotated bibliography of articles and other resource material on various facets of STI/NIS and organize them systematically using available library and information technology tools at the Centre.
3. Developing contents and drafting background papers, tentative programmes and in other preparatory work for organizing national and Asia-Pacific regional conferences and workshops on STI in countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
4. Organizing outputs of the national and regional conferences and workshops and other resource material for updating the contents of the Asia-Pacific NIS : On-line Resource Centre.
5. Participate in seminars conferences and workshops to enrich the knowledge of the intern in areas relevant to the activities of the Centre and that of his/her curriculum as advised by the supervisor.

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school(second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least fours years of full-studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
