Job Description
ICANN has an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Enterprise Applications. The Director of Enterprise Applications (DEA) is responsible for management of a highly skilled team of professionals designed to deliver best of breed solutions to meet the ongoing demands of ICANN and its customers.
  • The DEA will oversee the Business Engagement Team and its role of working closely with business staff and other team members to assess, explain, understand and model the business issues, processes, challenges, objectives, vision and data.
  • The DEA will drive value added enterprise solution delivery and support management using finely honed communications, strong relationship building skills, and previous experience.
  • The DEA will also manage key system architects, integration and development specialists, and security administration.
  • The DEA will also serve as a contributor where needed, as part of a cross functional team on engagements to ensure timely solution proposal, engineering, delivery and cradle to grave support for the Application and Service Portfolio, and will ensure there is never a void in leadership or direction on our projects or services.
In addition to the core responsibilities above, the DEA will work closely with the Vice President of IT and other ICANN Leadership to manage strategic planning needs, budgetary ownership, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
  • Lead the Business Engagement Team, Security Administrator, and other Enterprise Team members towards successful planning, engagement, delivery, support and review of enterprise applications
  • Professional Development and Training Plans based on business needs and application requirements
  • Ensure proper tracking and management of projects within our Portfolio Management Solution
  • Develop junior staff where required towards key skills requirements
  • Manage all day to day aspects of team budget, spend and resource allocation
Customer Engagement
  • Develop and maintain a customer-focused relationship with business stakeholders and other IT areas by exhibiting a high level of collaboration, timely communication and responsiveness
  • Work in tandem with Business Sponsors and Stakeholders to understand business vision and objectives in order to define, create, and implement (drive) Business Process Improvement efficiencies across the enterprise
  • Investigate and learn business issues and data challenges of the business through daily interaction with the department members and their leadership
  • Forge partnerships inside and outside of the IT organization
  • Liaise with managers and key users from all areas of the business
  • Demonstrate and foster highest levels of service and support regardless of ownership
  • Project Leadership
  • Lead multifaceted and multidisciplinary development projects as key technical resource, owner or project manager as required
  • Ensure projects are aligned with company strategic goals
  • Direct, counsel, and manage expectations of all project stakeholders
  • Set and manage project scope, priorities, deadlines, and deliverable schedules
  • Perform hands-on technical activities, such as, installing tools in a development environment, evaluating tools, and assisting end users with conducting
  • Proof of Concept testing and prototyping activities, and enhancing solutions exposure and capabilities
  • Complete end to end ownership with other technology groups of delivered solutions from its inception to retirement/sunset
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to facilitate knowledge transfer between the customer and project team

Required Experience
  • University degree, MBA or relevant experience within the field of project management, process engineering and functional business operations preferred.
  • Five to ten years' experience in leading technology solution delivery as team lead or management, project management, technical architecture and design, and customer support
  • Direct experience working in a Project Management Office or involved in deploying or extending PM methods to an enterprise for technical project implementation
  • Recent experience with financial, Salesforce.com CRM, and/or content management systems preferred
  • Prior experience in network administration, infrastructure or applications support preferred
  • Prior international experience strongly preferred
  • Recent experience or involvement with SOAP, REST, API & RFC integration and process design a plus
  • Experience administering and implementing a BPM Suite or tool including process design modeling, development, testing and live support is a plus
