The MSCIS (Manufacturing Supply Chain Information and Solutions) Finance Manufacturing Cost team manages the financial reporting for the costs associated with manufacturing hardware products for the division. This is a unique opportunity within Microsoft to support the Manufacturing organization on hardware devices. This is a very visible position that works closely with key decision makers in MSCIS Operations. This role is focused on the close & cost accounting activities of the Xbox & Surface businesses. 
This role requires strong accounting and financial fundamentals and principles with ability to interpret policies & establish controls. The successful candidate will not only have to understand manufacturing cost accounting principles but also be able to apply them to the business space .Will have to be able to partner with the Finance Planning teams & business partners to identify and drive opportunities and understand risks through financial analysis. Should also be able to effectively partner across various parts of the organization, and have the ability to explain the business “beyond the accounting numbers”.

The person in this role will be expected to play a key role in the evolution of the MSCIS Finance Manufacturing Cost team, provide input into the team strategy, development of infrastructure, and identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities. 
Main Responsibilities include:
• Drive the monthly close & cost accounting process of the product cost of the business. Review & validate cost updates and impacts. Perform monthly accrual activities. 
• Establish policies and procedures & drive compliance in connection with product costs, inventory valuation, purchase variances, absorption rates etc. 
• Support the finance planning team by providing a deep financial and business insight on related cost drivers. Partner with them on budgeting & forecasting activities 
• Partner with sourcing, manufacturing & planning teams to develop and improve processes that impact accounting systems .
• Participate/lead in projects where accounting & costing system changes are needed 
• Carry out SOX testing activities as assigned from time to time
• Actively participate in key initiatives as may be required from time to time.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent required, CPA/MBA preferred
• Financial experience in a manufacturing-heavy business space (7+ years) required
• Experience with manufacturing and/or supply chain accounting systems required
• Has demonstrated accounting and/or financial analysis experience in relevant business space (e.g., procurement, manufacturing, consumer products). 
• Knowledge of standard costing and overhead absorption is a bonus while knowledge of SAP Product & Actual costing is a definite advantage 
• Knowledge of Internal Microsoft tools (Informa,MS Sales,Mercury, etc.) is a plus 
• Excellent PC skills, particularly in MS Excel are required. SAP hands on experience is also desirable
• Knowledge of the Consumer Electronics industry is preferred
