Background
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the immediate supervision of the Deputy Chief of Security/Shift Supervisor, the incumbent performs the following duties:
- Studies all instructions, guidelines, checklists and technical manuals to familiarize him/herself with the content and technical details in order to be able to respond immediately to emergency situations; keeps a log of all incidents;
- Observes sound and light warning signals and messages emitted by electronic alarm and detection systems ( fire/smoke detectors, burglary alarms, movement sensors, elevator bells) and displayed on monitors to initiate immediate action to stop fires or prevent intrusion into buildings. Acts as the radio contact point and Movement Control Centre for all vehicles traffic moving between regions within the Mission Area;
- Receives emergency calls by radio from Fire and Safety Officers/Assistants and other security staff;
- Keeps keys for the lock system installed in the OMiK Headquarters building and requests Inventories, records of keys used at the other facilities at Prishtinë/Pristina to ensure security of assets in offices;
- The incumbent has to spend long hours on radio duty and watching computer screens to immediately react to alarm signals. It is part of the incumbent's regular duties to work shifts which may often include two or three subsequent night shifts per week ( 23.00 p.m to 7.00 a.m) followed by two or four days off;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications
- Completed secondary education, supplemented by military or police education
- Two years of experience in a position where security protection, including fire prevention and fire fighting was part of daily work, with previous use of radio procedure
- Knowledge of the town where the duty station is located, including the surroundings, aptitude to operate technical devices ( fire-fighting equipment)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and local languages
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities
Remuneration Package
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 703.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Vanbreda medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.
