INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Incumbent of the post will be responsible for assisting Registration Officer in overseeing refugee registration process. The Snr. Registration Assistant will also assist in the implementation of the registration strategies ensuring that UNHCR registration standards are observed at all times. The incumbent will undertake the following responsibilities under the supervision of the Registration Officer at UNHCR Sub Office Erbil, Iraq:
FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the Registration Process for refugees and other persons of concern.
  • Assist in monitoring the refugee situation including refugee movements in the camp and elsewhere.
  • Update database for registration.
  • Provide statistics and data analysis as required.
  • May be required to collaborate with implementing partners in charge of distribution of Non-food Items (NFIs) and FIs.
  • Draft routine correspondence and reports.
  • Act as interpreter and translator when needed.
  • Perform other duties as required
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Analytical thinking; Technological awareness; Political awareness Completion of the Secondary Education. Minimum 7 years of previous relevant job experience. Computer skills
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge of English and other UN language (written/oral/comprehension).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- University degree in Law, Social studies or Information Technology (IT), combination of two is an asset;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office applications) above user level;
  • Good knowledge of population displacement issues;
  • Good analytical, oral and written communication;
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Cultural and gender awareness;
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in often stressful environment;
  • Should be self-motivated and demonstrate a dynamic ability to work with people of different cultural and national backgrounds;
  • Kurdish Language is as asset.
  • Previous experience in UN/UNHCR
  • Good knowledge of Progress (HCR database for reintegration of refugees, returnees and displaced persons).
  • Experience in managing programme related to standards and indicators.
  • Training on data analysis with SPFF (statistic software).
  • Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to functions of the position
