Field Assistant (2 positions) with the Research Group of Surveillance and Outbreak Response under the Centre for Communicable Diseases (Advertisement #308/13)
icddr, b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Field Assistant (2 positions) with the Research Group of Surveillance and Outbreak Response under the Centre for Communicable Diseases. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 3 months, which may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty Station – CCD-Field-Sites
Salary – Tk.14,816/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job Profile
  • Collect data from the eligible patients of surveillance hospitals using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA);
  • Collect biological specimen from individuals from hospital and field;
  • Jointly work with physicians to identify eligible patients and collect samples;
  • Safely store the collected samples to the dry shipper and transport samples from field to icddr,b and government laboratory;
  • Support other surveillance studies in the hospitals;
  • Maintain close liaison with the study physicians and other key officials of the surveillance hospitals.
Requirements
  • SSC passed or equivalent with good academic records;
  • 3 years work experience in the relevant field;
  • Ability to identify and facilitate prompt mitigation of any difficulty arising in the field related activities of the surveillance;
  • Ability to support the field activities and maintain liaison with icddr,b and other hospital staff;
  • Flexibility work in difficult outbreak situation in constrained environment;
  • Capacity to recognize, communicate and correct any interpersonal conflicts that may take place among the surveillance physicians and other hospital staff;
  • Should be self motivated and ability to work independently with minimum supervision and direction;
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Skills in computer MS Office and PDA use.
