Deputy Project Coordinator with the Research Group of Universal Health Coverage under the Centre for Equity and Health Systems (Internal Advertisement #307/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates (staff members and CSA holders) for the position of Deputy Project Coordinator with the Research Group of Universal Health Coverageunder the Centre for Equity and Health Systems. The appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for 1 year, which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
Duty station – Dhaka.
Salary – Annual Tk.14,22,890/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances with other admissible benefits.
Benefits/facilities – 14.8% retirement fund contribution by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,420/- per child per month, medical facilities for dependent spouse and children, group life insurance. Subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities subject to availability.
Job Profile:
  • Proposal Development: Develop research proposal and methodology; Collaborate with other P.I.s to align project along different research verticals / areas in the research group; Estimate requirements for financial and non-financial resources based on research methodology; Allocate resources across research verticals; Seek approval from Finance, RRC, ERC etc. on protocol; Coordinate with Research Administration (RA) for registering projects with government / international authorities and for securing licenses or approvals for research-related activities in order to leverage research opportunities for the Centre within the organizational guidelines.
  • Project Management and Implementation: Design and plan project activity on impact and process evaluation of Bangladesh immunization programme in consultation with the RG Heads, PIs and Project Coordinator; Develop appropriate action plan and methodology to complete the project in scheduled time; Assign suitable person to carry out the plan properly; Provide adequate resources to carry out the plan in order to implement the project efficiently and effectively in order to ensure efficient management and implementation of project activities within the guidelines of the Centre.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Maintain quality of the ongoing research activities and undertake monitoring and evaluation plan; Develop monitoring and evaluation tools, training materials, survey tools, intervention tools and data collection tools including questionnaires related to Health System Research with special focus on Immunization, child health and family planning in order to improve processes for ensuring effective output of the project activities in line with the Centre's goals and guidelines.
  • Collaboration and training: Conduct training for field staffs, NGO staffs and government staffs on data collection, develop different kinds of guidelines and tools; Support to the EPI programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in adapting and pilot testing of different tools and training packages; Liaison with GoB & other international organization, national NGOs and professional bodies in order to ensure smooth operation of project activities.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Data analysis; prepare manuscript / scientific research report based on research study; Submit research report to donor; Explain and defend findings to varying audiences (fellow-scientists, policy-makers, boards of donor organisation, other stakeholders tc.); Circulate research study within icddr,b in order to ensure qualitative outcome of the project.
  • People Management: Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations, if required; Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organisation; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues; Set goals and conduct appraisals for the team; Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed; Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities; Identify and reward high performers; Recommend promotions; Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b) in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
  • MBBS and Masters in Social Science/Masters in Public Health;
  • 10 years in research projects related to health systems with special focus on immunization, maternal, child health, family planning and chronic diseases.
