Field Research Supervisor with the Research Group of Menstrual Regulation (MR) and Post Abortion Care (PAC) under the Centre for Reproductive Health (Advertisement #319/13)

icddr,b invites applications from suitableFemale candidates for the position of  Field Research Supervisor with the Research Group of Menstrual Regulation (MR) and Post Abortion Care (PAC)under the Centre for Reproductive Health. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 3 months, which may be extended for further period depending on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

Duty Station – Sylhet/Khulna

Salary - Tk.25,412/-(consolidated)  per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.  No other benefit is admissible.

Job Profile:

• Project Implementation: Understand study protocol and data collection techniques from Supervisor; Develop activity plans under guidance of Supervisor and communicate the plans with the data collectors,  Work with supervisor for developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures, Provide support and guidance to data collectors during data collection process, Review questionnaire, Carry out validation interview, Check data for accuracy; Editing, coding and cleaning data, Piloting of questionnaire, Entry of collected data if required, Compile and prepare progress report; Arrange to provide administrative and logistic support to the field staff, Maintain effective liaison with health care provider at medical college and upazilla health complex in order to collect, test and analysis data related to the research project.

• Monitoring and Supervision: Supervise and monitor data collection activities of field staffs, quality checking of data at the field, Ensure data quality thorough direct observation, Validate and Observation of certain percentage of interview, Perform field visits and conduct regular meeting with the staff at field in order to capture qualitative data and information for analysis.

• Mentoring and Training: Identify training needs, Organise and conduct Training for data collectors;  Guide team members on completion of tasks, activities, reports and documents (e.g. qualitative research methods, PMDS formalities); Mentor and train staff on-the-job in the field; Provide feedback to supervisor on team members' performance in order to spread knowledge and develop team members.

• People Management: Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues; Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities; Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b) in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.  

Requirements:

Education and Relevant Experience:

• Masters in any discipline;
• 3 years of experience in field research specially in the field of MR, Abortion and Pregnancy;

Functional Competencies

• Knowledge of Data Collection Methods;
• Knowledge of Ethical Guidelines;
• Knowledge of supervising data collection;
• Knowledge of terminology related to MR, Abortion, Pregnancy;
• Knowledge of spoken and written English.
